Environmentally Safe 'Turnkey' Solutions
|
Inland is pleased to offer our customers a turnkey service for the removal of rubber from runway surfaces, including the collection and disposal of any and all by-products produced during operations.

A Runway Rubber Removal program is important in the maintenance of skid resistant runway surfaces. With the advent of turbojet aircraft types, surfaces that are free of rubber build up have become even more important, as under certain conditions, hydroplaning or unacceptable loss of traction can occur resulting in poor braking performance.

The Process
|
Apart from safety factors, Inland's rubber removal programs also incorporate an environmental component for the recovery and management of the runoff produced from the cleaning process. Inland's rubber removal program includes the use of the Glycol Recovery Vehicle [GRV] to apply water and soap prior to removal by a Broce Broom Sweeper. All material is recovered and disposed of using Best Management Practices.

Inland’s rubber removal process typically involves the following steps:
- Water soaking the area to be cleaned using the Glycol Recovery Vehicle wash bar.

- Detergent application, again using the GRV. Inland uses a soap that is not harmful to the environment.

- A Broce broom is then run over the entire surface until all set rubber is loosened from the runway. This may involve multiple passes.

- Rinse and recovery of the entire surface and vacuuming of all waste fluid.

- Safe disposal of all collected materials.
Inland uses only modern, well-maintained equipment in the rubber removal process. The Glycol Recovery Vehicle [GRV] is specifically designed for the quick and efficient recovery of difficult to recover waste materials. The unit has a vacuum performance of 20,000 CFM. The Broce boom delivers superior performance and is also equipped with a FOD control magnet at the front.
